Newly built in 2010, we offer a high standard of bed and breakfast accommodation and welcome you to stay with us at Torcastle, to enjoy one of the most stunning and peaceful locations in the Scottish Highlands.
Torcastle is accessed through a tunnel under the Caledonian Canal, nestled between the Canal and the River Lochy. Although we are only 5 miles from Fort William it feels like a world of its own. Our location is perfect for spotting wildlife including Deer, Red squirrel, Pine Marten, Otter, Heron plus stunning natural woodlands to wander through listening to the Owls and Woodpecker.
Torcastle is a beautiful location with fabulous view of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor. The River Lochy flows along our boundary fence and we have easy access to the ruins of the old Tor Castle (stronghold of the Clan Cameron until they moved to Achnacarry).
Replanting of our woodland is progressing nicely, so far we have planted over 1000 trees, Scots pine, Alder, Beech, Oak while removing invasive species like Rhododendron. Over the last 8 years we have introduced owl boxes and many areas for wildlife to thrive. Our owl population is growning alongside our Red Squirrels.
Our Bed and Breakfast provides all the comforts of home but affords you your own space.
The Bed and Breakfast area is separate to our side of the house, so effectively you have your own unit comprising 2 bedrooms and your own living room with stunning views overlooking Ben Nevis and the River Lochy. It is perfect for family or friends travelling together as we sleep only 5 guests in total. Our hens wander freely and supply yummy eggs for your breakfast, possibly the best you’ll ever taste.
Whilst we love all animals, we do have 3 Labradors in the house and therefore cannot accept any guests’ pets in the accommodation, although pets are welcome to stay outside in their car…
